Aubrey Wilk

Aubrey Wilk, Principal, grew up loving music and performing arts. She pursued her love for music by attending Berklee College of Music in Boston, graduating with a degree in Music Education. After teaching music in Boston for a year, Aubrey relocated to Chicago to join the Inner City Teaching Corps, a service program aiming to provide high quality teachers to inner city schools. While teaching in Chicago, Aubrey obtained her Masters in Education and Social Policy from Northwestern University, as well as an alternative teaching certificate in general education. Aubrey taught 5th and 6th grade at St. Frances of Rome School for 5 years. Here, she developed a special passion for teaching Readers’ and Writers’ Workshop, and went on to teach Writers’ Workshop for 5 years at Polaris Charter Academy. Aubrey joined the DDES team in 2016! Outside of the classroom, Aubrey enjoys playing the guitar, singing, writing, walking her dog, and bodybuilding.
